When infrastructure becomes operational

Two kinds of infrastructure matured this week. In Tokyo, media provenance tools moved from concept to production deployment. In developer channels, AI agents started talking directly to DAM systems through a protocol most teams haven't heard of yet. Both shifts change what gets built next.

From Kyiv to Tokyo: an infrastructure for truth moves from pilot to production ↗

Ukraine’s public broadcaster explained why it signs its journalism, a Japanese broadcaster revealed it has been using C2PA in production for a year, and a room full of vendors showed that the tools are ready now. These are just a few of the highlights of yesterday’s Media Provenance Summit in Tokyo. On Tuesday October 13th […] The post From Kyiv to Tokyo: an “infrastructure for truth” moves from pilot to production at the Media Provenance Summit Tokyo appeared first on IPTC.

TL;DR · Why it matters

Ukraine's public broadcaster explained why it signs its journalism. A Japanese broadcaster revealed it has been using C2PA in production for a year. A room full of vendors showed the tools are ready now. The Media Provenance Summit in Tokyo marked the moment content authenticity stopped being a standards exercise and became operational infrastructure. When controlled vocabulary includes cryptographic signatures, the metadata conversation changes.

6 ways developers use AI agents and Cloudinary MCP to scale media management ↗

Managing media assets is a routine task in software development, especially for teams building cloud-based platforms, e-commerce sites, or content management systems. If you’ve ever spent an afternoon uploading product images, tagging each one by hand, resizing them for three different channels, and then doing it all over again the next week, this guide is […] The post 6 Ways Developers Use AI Agents and Cloudinary MCP to Scale Media Management appeared first on Cloudinary Blog.

TL;DR · Why it matters

Managing media assets is routine work: upload product images, tag each one, resize for three channels, repeat. Cloudinary released an MCP server that lets AI agents handle these tasks directly. Developers can now ask Claude to bulk-tag uploads, generate alt text, or resize entire catalogs without writing workflow scripts. The Model Context Protocol gives agents structured access to DAM operations. It's early, but the pattern is clear: agents automate what previously required custom code or manual effort.

TL;DR · Why it matters

Answer engines already read your PDFs and stale spec sheets. DAM benchmarks never asked whether they get you right. The industry measured upload speed, search accuracy, and user adoption. None of that matters if Perplexity cites a competitor because your metadata doesn't parse well for LLMs. One new benchmark does ask: when an AI reads your asset library, does it understand what you actually do? It's the question AI in digital asset management should have started with.

IPTC NewsCodes 2026-Q3 update released ↗

The IPTC Media Topics vocabulary tree browser. The NewsCodes Working Group is pleased to release the Q3 2026 update to our NewsCodes vocabularies. In our Q2 update we mentioned that the Working Group was reviewing the sports branch of Media Topics. That review is now complete, and it makes up almost all of this release: […] The post IPTC NewsCodes 2026-Q3 update released appeared first on IPTC.

TL;DR · Why it matters

The IPTC NewsCodes Working Group released its Q3 2026 update, completing a review of the sports branch of Media Topics. NewsCodes provides controlled vocabularies for news metadata: subject codes, genres, content warnings, and editorial markers that travel with assets across systems. The update refines how sports content gets classified, which matters when metadata determines whether an asset surfaces in search, gets recommended by an algorithm, or qualifies for licensing. Controlled vocabularies are infrastructure. Updates like this keep that infrastructure aligned with how content actually moves.

MCP is coming for your DAM. Here's what that actually means. ↗

MCP is coming for your DAM. Learn what Model Context Protocol actually does, why it matters for digital asset management, and what your organization…

TL;DR · Why it matters

Model Context Protocol lets AI agents read, write, and operate on structured data sources without custom APIs. For DAM, that means an agent can browse assets, read metadata, generate tags, or trigger workflows using the same interface across platforms. MCP doesn't replace your DAM's API, it provides a standard layer so agents don't need platform-specific code. Early adopters are using it to automate tagging, alt text generation, and bulk operations. The protocol is young, but the pattern is durable: agents need structured access to assets, and MCP provides the grammar.

Cloudinary Video API features you're probably not using yet ↗

Most teams adopt Cloudinary to solve an immediate problem, usually to upload a file, embed a video, or resize an image. The feature ships, and the team moves on. But Cloudinary Video API includes capabilities that go well beyond basic upload and delivery, and many of them can eliminate manual editing work entirely. This guide […] The post Cloudinary Video API Features You’re Probably Not Using Yet appeared first on Cloudinary Blog.

TL;DR · Why it matters

Most teams adopt Cloudinary to upload a file or resize an image, then move on. The Video API includes capabilities that eliminate manual editing tasks: adaptive streaming, auto-captioning, AI-generated previews, format conversion, and programmatic trimming. These features ship with the platform but often go unused because teams solve the immediate problem and never revisit the toolset. The post walks through six underused features that can replace custom scripts or third-party tools. It's worth auditing what your DAM already does before building around it.
