WordPress 7.0 now supports embedded IPTC Alt Text metadata

WordPress can now read Alt Text (Accessibility) properties embedded in image files via the IPTC Photo Metadata Standard. That means accessibility metadata travels with the asset instead of being re-entered at publish time. The feature matters less as a WordPress update and more as a proof point: structured metadata inside the file beats metadata typed into a CMS field every time. One survives export, reuse, and handoff. The other lives and dies in a single system.
